SUMMARY:Lockout/Tagout Hazardous Energy Control
DESCRIPTION:Instructor: Michael Needham\, CSP\, CSC\, CFPS\, CIT\, CHMP \nOSHA created the Hazardous Energy Control  (“Lockout/Tagout”) standard to cover the servicing and maintenance of machines and equipment that could potentially cause injury to employees.  Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) refers to specific practices and procedures to safeguard employees from unexpected energization or start-up of machinery and equipment\, or the release of hazardous energy during service of maintenance activities. \nThis course is designed to cover the OSHA requirements for Lockout/Tagout training per OSHA 29 CFR 1910.147.  Attendees will learn terminology\, how to prepare for the Lockout process\, how to safely release energy\, proper locking and tagging procedures\, proper testing\, and restart of equipment. \nThe following topics will be covered: \n\nOverview – Lockout/Tagout\nEnergy Control Plan\nActive vs. stored energy\nLockout Devices and Tagout Devices\nAuthorized personnel and energy isolation devices\nEnergy dissipation\nInstalling Lockout/Tagout devices during shift changes\nBasic release procedures\nLocking out electrical systems
