
40-Hour HAZWOPER

This course provides initial 40-hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER training for new workers at uncontrolled hazardous waste cleanup sites. This course is designed to meet the requirements of OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120(e). It does not include the required 3-days of hands-on training on-site.
Topics include:
- General site safety
- The requirements of the HAZWOPER Standard, including training requirements
- How to Evaluate, identify, and communicate the hazards
- The selection, use, and care for personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators
- Hazard communication
- Confined space entry
- Safe materials handling
- Decontamination of equipment and PPE
- Requirements for medical surveillance
- Fall hazards, working from heights, electrical hazards, caught-in, struck-by, etc.

- Equipment operators
- General laborers
- Other general site workers
- On-site management and supervisory personnel
